Abstract Lilies 3

Abstract Lilies 3

This is a red Asiatic Lily. Unlike the two previous installments – about which you could readily identify the flowers as lilies – this one is truly abstract. The extreme macro shows off the texture of the petals. The image has an almost sculptured quality.

The Asiatic lilies, with the Oriental lilies, are the two categories of “true” lilies that have upward-facing flowers. The Asiatic, which are found in central Asia and the Middle East, thrive in dry, arid climates. Unlike the Orientals, Asiatics have no scent and the flowers are slightly more compact.

Here are two more images. Click for larger views.

This concludes this series of abstract images of lilies. Following were the two previous posts.
