These are original photographs that have been processed in Adobe Firefly to produce watercolor versions. Similar watercolor renders drew some interest a few weeks ago, so I thought this week for New Images I’d share some more. They’re all using generative AI to produce the images, but all are based on underlying original photographs. The featured image above is a large white Rhododendron, one of the most magnificent of flowers. [Click each image below for a larger view, including fullscreen option.]
The images were processed in Adobe Firefly using a Firefly 5 AI model. To give you an idea of the conversion, here’s a side-by-side comparison of the Clematis image. Notice how the AI watercolor image takes its color and texture cues from the original photo.
As noted above, the above images were all processed using the Firefly 5 model. Different AI models may produce different results. Again, as a comparison, here is the Clematis image, this time processed using the Gemini 3.1 (Nano Banana 2) model. The differences are apparent. Using different models, it is purely a matter of personal preference which result one likes. (Firefly makes available 11 different AI models one might use.)
