Oh, how I yearn for Spring! The weather has been quite lovely over the past week; so far, March hasn’t shown much of its lion-like temperament. This photo from Bruce Park in Greenwich is a few years old and showcases some stunning spring hues along with a beautiful egret on the lake. Egrets, especially white ones, are often linked to notions of purity, elegance, divine strength, and good luck. They serve as symbols of harmony, balance, and resilience in various cultures. One day I hope to capture an image of a white egret up close.
The plumage of the white egret is stunning: long, delicate, and pure white. These birds were once hunted to the brink of extinction for their feathers. The great white egret represents the National Audubon Society; this organization was established largely to protect the white egret from disappearing entirely.
