A Friday flower… Red Ranunculus. The ranunculus genus contains well over a thousand species, found all over the world in temperate and mountainous regions. The most well known naturally occurring is the buttercup. Full-flowered extravagant versions as this one are cultured and popular flowers in the flower trade. All ranunculus are poisonous – flower and leaves – but do have uses in traditional medicine.
