One Four Challenge – Wildflowers Week One

One Four Challenge – Wildflowers Week One

After taking a short break, I’m now doing the One Four Challenge again. The One Four Challenge was started by Robyn G. several years ago. It was relaunched earlier this year by Leanne Cole and me, Joanne. In the One Four Challenge, we select an image and then explore four ways of editing on four successive weeks, developing different ways of seeing the same scene. Visit this link if you would like more information about the One Four Challenge. We would love to have more people join us. It’s fun and a great way to explore different editing methods. You can do anything – subtle or out there – so long as it’s four different edits. The choice is yours. In your post, link back to me or Leanne, and use the tag One Four so we can find you in the Reader.

The featured image above and to the left is this month’s original. It was photographed while on a visit to the Sachuest Point National Wildlife Preserve near Newport, RI. At the time, I thought the fence would be the main element of the photograph, though I liked the interplay between the texture of the wood and the dense greenery behind. But now I think the lush dense vegetation should be the main element of the image.

In developing the first variation, I first removed the fence. I also enhanced the colors to produce a bolder look.

So here is the first variation.

As I always do, here is a side by side comparison.

Each week’s variation in the One Four Challenge is posted on Wednesday in the western hemisphere and Thursday in Australia. Be sure to visit next week for another variation.

  1. I thought I wouldn’t like it better without the fence, but I do! Looking forward to seeing what else you do next week.

    1. Thanks! I was actually surprised at how much color there was without the fence. I know what I’m doing next week, but I don’t know yet about weeks 3 and 4!
