One Four Challenge: Autumn Scene – Variation 2

One Four Challenge: Autumn Scene – Variation 2

This is Week 2 of the current One Four series. As a reminder, in the One Four Challenge, we select an image and then develop four new variations, or edits, in successive weeks. For those of you who are interested in what the One Four Challenge is, you can find out by going to this link for more information. And do go see Leanne Cole’s post.

This is another week of relatively subtle edits. With the focus of the image being the trees and foliage, I decided that the house is a distraction. So the first edit was to remove the house.

Then, the original and variation 1 had a dark shadow across the bottom of the frame. That too was a distraction. I cropped it out, then adjusted the image size to bring it back in line with the original.

Finally, I felt that the colors in Variation 1 were still too harsh and unnatural. So I adjusted the red and orange colors in the image to try and make the foliage seem more natural. What do you think?

All edits this week were done in Photoshop.

Here is a side by side comparison of Variation 1 and Variation 2.

And a gallery showing the original and both variations.

That’s it for Week 2. I would love to hear your thoughts on these edits. Next week will see another variation. All of the edits thus far have been rather subtle. We may see some more substantial changes next week. See you then!
