It’s time to begin a new series of images in the One Four Challenge. As a reminder, in the One Four Challenge, we select an image and then develop four new variations, or edits, in successive weeks. For those of you who are interested in what the One Four Challenge is, you can find out by going to this link for more information. And do go see Leanne Cole’s post.
So the feature image above is going to be our original. It’s a typical picture of an autumn scene in New England. Here is the first variation.
The changes I’ve made for the first variation are pretty subtle. First, I found the bare leafless tree near the left edge to be distracting. So I used a generative erase to remove it. Then, it seemed to me that there was just a bit of pincushioning in the image. This is seen most clearly in the inward “squeezing” of the house. So that took a minor optical adjustment. (I made all adjustments, by the way, in Luminar Neo.) Finally, I adjusted the exposure sliders, including slight increases in contrast. The overall effect is to “brighten” the image. Because the changes are so subtle, here is a side-by-side comparison of the original and variation 1. (The original is on the left, variation 1 on the right.)
So that’s the first week of the new series. Come back next week to see the next variation
