Opening this week’s edition of New Images is this triptych, titled simply “Water.” There’s no AI involved. They are camera photographs that have been edited and combined into this format. The photographs are of a summer stream in Maine. Water is abundant in Maine. I tried to capture the many colors reflected in the water as well as the movement of the stream. In the edit, I’ve softened the image. The result has an almost abstract feel.

These irises are the product of an AI. Initially generated according to my prompt in Google NanoBanana. (The names they give these programs!) Following generation, both images were edited in Luminar Neo, where (among other things) backgrounds and some filtering were added. “Yellow Irises’ came out just right immediately, but the ‘Purple and White Irises’ required many attempts before I was satisfied with it.
