New Images #15: Visions of Nature

New Images #15: Visions of Nature

“New Images” is a weekly series of (mostly) newly created images that explore the combination of traditional and modern methods of image editing and creation and the intersection with modern Generative AI. New posts in the series are published on Wednesday or Thursday.

Visions of Nature is a series I started a few years ago. My intention was to use post-capture processing to explore different colors and patterns in nature scenes. I was guided by the writings of Viktor Shklovsky who saw the purpose of art to render the familiar as unfamiliar inorder to stimulate new ways of seeing (“defamiliarization”). Originally edited in Nik Color Efex, these images have been newly processed in Luminar Neo.

The feature image (and to the left) is Azaleas in Springtime.

Here are more newly edited images in this series.

Harmony
Exotica
Secret Garden
Sunday Afternoon in the Woods
Tree of Light

I welcome your comments. And visit next week, Wednesday/Thursday for another installment of “New Images.”

  1. The more I looked at these the more I liked them! Especially ‘Sunday Afternoon in the Woods’ and ‘Secret Garden’ 🙂

    1. Thanks for your comment, Sarah. I think many works of art – paintings or photographs – benefit from extended viewing. I’m glad you liked these.
