The fishing boats here in port are part of the fleet at New Bedford, Massachusetts. New Bedford was the most important port in the whaling industry. Today, It is the number one commercial fishing fleet in the United States. In these photographs, I like the stark high-contrast back-and-white images showing the dense and complex rigging on the boats. Note also the names given some boats, which is what first drew my attention.
