Following the Hydrangea post of last week, I went back to the Hydrangea shrubs and found this splendid display of red and pink blooms. Intense red hydrangea blooms are really special. Wikipedia tells me: “Unlike blue hydrangeas (which thrive in acidic soil), red hydrangeas require neutral to slightly alkaline soil to maintain their rich red hue.” This seems like the perfect location for these shrubs. Again, from Wikipedia: “They [red hydrangeas] perform best with morning sun and afternoon shade…”
