Monochrome Rose

Monochrome Rose

For midweek, here is a lovely rose, nearly open, rendered in monochrome. I find I’m doing more black and white work these days. My interest in black and white – in the complex patterns of light and dark, highlight and shadow – always strong – is growing further. There’s something about the monochrome image that is more appealing than bright colors. Its tones are gentler, softer, yet more complex. In the rose, we can actually see more, more of the folds and soft waves of the petals.
