Light and Shadow: The New Book is Here

Light and Shadow: The New Book is Here
A thirty-year retrospective collection of beautiful black and white fine art photography: landscapes, nature, and florals. More than 120 pages of monochrome images, all newly processed for this volume, all revealing the fascinating interplay between Light and Shadow. Available hardbound with dust jacket or as an instant PDF version viewable on any device.
From the Introduction:

For me, fine art photography is not about documenting reality, but uncovering the hidden structures beneath it. Our appreciation for monochrome photography is built into the very way we see. By removing the color, black and white photographs cease to be depictions of reality and become representations of reality. By isolating the core elements of our visual world—form, line, texture, shape—monochrome photography unveils the endless interplay of Light and Shadow.

Shadows reveal a softer existence, a more reflective domain. Each photograph in this collection represents a moment where the noise of the world falls away, leaving behind a quiet, poetic truth. With these images, I invite you to look past the literal surface of things and discover the emotions that live in the quiet spaces between absolute black and pure white.

  2. Joanne provides a window into contemplation of Earth’s history with her landscapes, the seasons, the intricacies of flower anatomy, and her studies of line by removing color. There is much to ponder in her photographs.
