Lens Artists Challenge #391 – Phone Photography

Lens Artists Challenge #391 – Phone Photography

This week’s challenge is by Tina, who asks us to do some phone photography. I confess I almost never do photography with my iphone. I very much prefer using the “real” camera, even if it means lugging weight around. (I used to travel with two Nikons plus lenses!) Now I use a light and fast Fuji XPro2, and I’m very happy with that. But, occasionally, I’ll see something I want to photograph when I don’t have the camera with me. More often than not, it will be buildings and trees. Here is a selection of phone photographs.

This is “Blue Sky.” I am drawn to buildings with lots of glass, and sky reflections.

Buildings and Sky
First buds of Spring
Looking Out My Hospital Window After a Snowstorm.
This has been posted before, but I thought it was a good iPhone picture. I was in hospital in January of this year.
Kite Festival.
It’s held every summer at Brenton Point State Point in Newport, RI.
Tree and Lake

Redbud Trees

Living in Tennessee, I fell in love with the Redbud Tree, masses of which would be in bloom every May. This picture was taken in Connecticut. These are Northern Redbuds, related to the southern redbuds. but a distinct variety. As nice as they are, the Northern Redbuds can’t hold a candle to the southern “real” redbuds.

The Lake in Bruce Park, Greenwich

This has also been posted before. It’s in Stamford, CT. Each summer, the city chooses a particular theme or subject and makes available life-size casts to area artists. Then each participating artist paints the subject according to his/her own design and inspiration. The complete objects are placed at intersections around downtown. This past year, the theme was Pigs.

Bruce Park Egret
This has been posted before also, but it’s one of my all-time favorites. Driving through Bruce Park, I saw this egret standing in the lake near the shore. It’s a perfect example of what iPhone cameras were designed for, lest it be missed completely without a camera.

Those are my selections for this week’s Lens Artists Challenge. Thanks to Tina for an enjoyable challenge. I’m awed by the accuracy and power of the newest phone cameras. I should do more.
