Anne, at Slow Shutter Speed, has provided us with a nice challenge this week, full of possibilities: Reflections. I love reflections. I like playing with reflections, in photography and life. Reflecting surfaces like mirrors can reflect reality back to us, but they can also distort reality, warping our sense of what we see, what is real?
The above image has been posted before, but I love it. I like the richness of the blue sky reflected in the water. Below is another image I have posted before, but it’s perfect for this theme. The installation of mirrors is at the InSitu Garden in Redding CT.
A good example of how mirrors both reflect and distort is in the next set of images. I found this at the Silvermine Art Center in New Canaan CT. It’s a small house constructed with mirror pieces and shards.
Here is a picture of Mead Lake in Summer. Mead Lake is a small lake that feeds the East Branch of the Byrum River. in Connecticut.
And here is another view of Mead Lake, photographed in Winter.
The deep blue reflection of the sky in this Maine pond is matchless beauty.
Finally, the Egret has been posted before, but the reflections of the spring colors in the perfectly calm waters of the lake in Bruce Park, Connecticut, are just right for this week’s theme.
Thanks to Anne for this enjoyable challenge. Next week, Ann-Christine offers us a challenge.
