Lens-Artist Challenge for #340 – Portraits

Lens-Artist Challenge for #340 – Portraits

Ritva has this week’s challenge – Portraits – and it’s truly a challenge for me, since I don’t normally do portraits; in fact I usually avoid people pictures. I’ll try to respond with a few images. (Above feature image AI generated.)

Opening with one of the (very) rare portraits I’ve done. This was a commission.

This was an iPhone selfie, with a friend. On the Santa Monica Pier, Los Angeles, California.

A quartet of my visiting Aussie friends on an excursion in Central Park, New York City.

Two more friends. Along Highway 1, through the Big Sur, in coastal California.

This was Sally sitting for a portrait. Sally, unfortunately no longer with us, was the light of our lives. She was a dingo mix, she was the friendliest, smartest, warmest dog anyone could have as a pet. Her picture has pride of place in our home.

A side view of “Seated Woman” a sculpture by Henry Moore. It’s at the Getty Center, Brentwood, Los Angeles, California

Thanks to Ritva for this week’s challenge. The great thing – or two great things – about the Lens-Artist Challenges are that they force you to go beyond your comfort zone; and they force you to dig through your archives for images possibly forgotten but great all the same. 1. Beautiful portrait interpretations Joanne. I like your friends and family pictures. And your puppy definitely had your heart.

  2. I like in a way what you said at the end about the challenges, so true. You have some great portraits and I’m impressed that you did the AI one too.

    1. Thanks for your comments.

  3. Happy to hear you had a chance to dig in the archives and maybe at the same time relive some moments. You have nice candid images with your friends, and the emotions are there to be seen. I so prefer your own images to the plastic AI image even if it done beautifully.

    1. Thanks for your nice comments. About the AI image – Well, I kind of did that for a laugh. The subject was portraits. I had to have a featured image for the post but didn’t want to use one of the images already in the post. So I created that kind of over-the-top formal (imaginary) portrait.

  4. Great photos. I love that one of Sally. Well done.

    1. Thanks for your nice comment.
