Sofia has posted this week’s Lens Artist Challenge, number 337, challenging us to produce a Bold image. Sofia writes, “The first thing that comes to mind is colour. In fact, this idea for a challenge came from Egídio’s Complementary Colours. The colours opposing each other, creating combinations that are unusual, vibrant, bold.”
For me, few things are as bold as colorful flowers, and I’m more or less addicted to taking pictures of them. These tulips were photographed indoors, with a closeup lens and studio lighting. I’ll admit that I edited the image in Capture One – slightly – to add impact, though not much was necessary.
I hope I can shared a second work. Looking through my library of pictures, I’ve come across this one. I lived some years back in Melbourne, in the suburb of Fitzroy. Fitzroy has (or at least had then – I’d love to hear from anybody in Fitzroy now) a unique and distinctive carefree character – especially Brunswick Street. In a sense, everything about Fitzroy and Brunswick Street was bold. I found this piece of graffiti art on a Fitzroy wall. The artist is unknown.
About the Lens Artist Challenge
And one more …
This is the Painted Desert in northeastern Arizona. Erosion over millions of years has resulted in the layers of rock being exposed. The rocks have an abundance of iron and manganese which reseults in the striking colors. The Painted Desert is largely contained within the Petrified Forest National Park, all of which consists of the most striking landscape formations – truly Bold.
