This photograph of California poppies is this week’s Flower of the Week. The golden poppy (Eschscholzia californica) is ubiquitous throughout California all summer. It’s the State Flower. Often, in fields and on slopes, poppy flowers bloom in splendid masses since it reseeds and self-propagates freely. “California Poppies look like they were happily drawn by a four-year-old with a new box of crayons.” (The Plant Native) Photographed at Descanso Gardens, Pasadena.
