Fences – One Four Challenge Week 2

Fences – One Four Challenge Week 2

For this week’s One Four variation, I made a just a few changes that result in a radically different interpretation. In Photoshop, I replaced the sky with a dark texture. Since I’d removed any sun, I also erased the shadows being cast by the trees in the foreground. I also enhanced the green in the central tree and the trees on what now looks llike a hillside. The result is an image that looks deeper in the country with a forest or hillside background. It’s interesting how a dramatic change in appearance can be brought about by only a few edits.

Here are all three images, the original and variations 1 and 2.

In the One Four Challenge, we select an original image and then explore different edits or interpretations on subsequent weeks.

The One Four Challenge was started by Robyn (who I’m happy to say has started blogging again) some years ago. It is being rejuvenated by Leanne Cole and I. We would love it if others joined us and then see what we can do to our images. It is a good challenge because you can learn new things or experiment more. I love seeing how far I can push my images.

It is important to add the tag One Four so it will show up under that tag in the reader. Then we can all see what you have done. By the way, I post mine on Wednesdays in the Western Hemisphere. Leanne, a day ahead, posts on Thursdays in Australia and the Eastern Hemisphere.

  1. I loved this challenge when it first came out and was sad when it ended. Each of your results are so different and interesting…

    1. Thanks for your comment. You’re more than welcome to join in again!

  2. Joanne, I so agree with your view on this one. It does look like a mountain behind the trees and fence line. Great interpretation 👍

    1. Thanks, Robyn. I was really struck by it when I did those edits.

      1. It really works 😁

  3. Great change Joanne, I didn’t look at it and think oh that looks fake, it wasn’t until I read what you did and then saw the original.

    1. Thanks, Leanne. I was pretty happy with it. I think I’ll return to more realistic editing next week.
