The Peacock flower (Caesalpinia pulcherrima) is the national flower of Barbados, known locally as the Pride of Barbados or Barbados Pride. Originally from the West Indies, it has become popular and widely cultivated around the world. During my visit to Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona, I noticed it flourishing everywhere. To someone from a northern region, it’s truly an exotic bloom.
