One Photo Four Ways – Week 4 Sunflowers

One Photo Four Ways – Week 4 Sunflowers

This is the final week of Sunflowers. For variation 4, I took the original photograph and fed it to an AI with instructions to create a bouquet of flowers using the given photograph as a foundation. It is possible to provide a photograph to an IA with instructions to use the photograph as the basis of a new image.

Although not everyone is enthusiastic about AI imaging, I find it a useful tool in creating interesting images based on existing photographs. and I never try to pass it off as a non-AI image. In my view, it’s still a photographic image, and the AI is only another form of digital post-capture editing.

For those who may be interested, the AI prompt for this image (in Midjourney) was the following: /imagine with <url of the original photograph> create a photorealistic image of a bouquet of flowers with leaves and greens, sidelight, Fuji XPro2 35mm f/4 –ar 4:3 –s 900 –v 6.1 –q 2 –c 10.

It won’t work to create a side-by-side slider comparison of this week’s image and the original. But here are the original image and all four variations.

One Four Challenge
In the One Photo Four Ways exercise, we start by selecting a photograph and then editing it in four different ways on four successive weeks. Each week you must use that basic image or the original, but what you do to it is completely up to you. Variations can be as subtle or dramatic as your creativity allows.

Next week will begin a new series for April. Also, beginning next week, we will change the name of this series to the “One Four Challenge.” If you are interested in participating, select one of your images and go to it! Be sure to use the “One Four Challenge” tag, and link to either Leanne Cole or me.

I post on Wednesdays in the Western Hemisphere. Leanne Cole posts hers on Thursdays in Australia and the rest of the Eastern Hemisphere.

  2. Great job Joanne, the AI one is interesting, funny what it did. You never know what you will get with it. I look forward to next week. I just have to find an image now.

    1. Thanks for commenting, Leanne. I like the AI image. I didn’t put too many bounds on it, only that it use the sunflower image as an input.
