Going through my archives, I came across this – a multicolored yarrow groundcover (Achillea millefolium)- which I thought I would share as a second Flower of the Week. According to Wikipedia, “The plant is native to temperate regions of Eurasia and North America. It has been introduced as feed for livestock in New Zealand and Australia. It has some potential uses, including in traditional medicine.”
Achillea millefolium is the Common Yarrow, which grows to a foot or more. I do not know if the same name applies to this ground cover. (It may a variety of Achillea × taygetea.) Again from Wikipedia, “the genus name Achillea is derived from the Greek character Achilles, who by legend, carried it with his army to treat battle wounds.”
