It is April and time for another One Four Challenge. In this series, we select a photo and then explore, on successive weeks, four different ways of presednting or interpreting it. For the first week of the One Four series, I present an original and the first variation. (I suppose if you count the original that’s a total of 5 variations.)

My original for April is an image I shot at Grace Farms in. Connecticut. (See recent Grace Farms post.) I titled this image “Fences.” (This image was not included in the previous Grace Farms post.) This was shot in late winter; i fact, you can see some snow still on the ground. This is an interesting composition; the fences draw your eye into the center. But otherwise, there’s nothing special about it. So I’ll have to try different variations to make it more interesting.

For the first variation, I’ve used software to convert to black and white and then to create what would look more like a pencil drawing. This treatment, to me, seems to have a more artistic quality to it. It does bring more emphasis to the central tree.
Here’s a side by side slider comparison.

For this series, you find one image, it can be of anything and each week, for four weeks you make changes to that photo. You can do whatever you like with it, just do something different each week. How you do your post is up to you, though a short explanation of what you did would be great. I usually do a gallery starting with the original and then add each new interpretation weekly.
It is important to add the tag One Four so it will show up under that tag in the reader. Then we can all see what you have done. By the way, I post mine on Wednesdays in the Western Hemisphere. Leanne, a day ahead, posts on Thursdays in Australia and the Eastern Hemisphere.
The One Four Challenge was started by Robyn some years ago. It is being rejuvenated by Leanne Cole and I. We would love it if others joined us and then see what we can do to our images. It is a good challenge because you can learn new things or experiment more. I love seeing how far I can push my images. Then we can all see what you have done.
