This week’s Monday Monochrome is this image of the trunk of a mature Red Cedar tree sprouting fresh growth. The Eastern Red Cedar is not a “true” Cedar; it’s actually a member of the Juniper family (Juniperus virginiana). Juniper trees (and bushes) produce juniper berries. This image of trumpet flowers is this week’s Monday Monochrome. The common name is “Angel’s Trumpet,” the genus Brugmansia in the Nightshade family. Wikipedia says: Brugmansia species are among the most toxic of ornamental plants, containing tropane alkaloids of the type also responsible for the toxicity and deliriant effects of both jimsonweed and the infamous deadly nightshade.

I thought this stone path leading into the woods would make a good picture, and I wasn’t disappointed. I was intrigued by the feeling of mystery. Where does the path lead? You can’t tell from here.
